Edit - 2026: There are now only two units available to rent (via their website), and they're both apartments. If you want to rent a different room, you have to book it through AirBNB, so the owners can charge you insane rates. Also, there is NO maid service. You will need to bring your own beddings, pillows, towels, wash cloths, trash bags, toilet paper, cleaning supplies, etc. They got rid of the manager, Tom (who was the ONLY reason that we kept going there), and they did it in a way that I feel was extremely disrespectful. IF you should choose to stay here in 2026, prepare yourselves for drunk people screaming and playing LOUD music and metal horseshoes until all hours of the morning (the people who own the rooms can do whatever they want, but guests are expected to follow rules). You'll be able to hear it all night until they decide to go to bed. Do yourself a favor and find ANYWHERE ELSE to stay but here. Tom was the ONLY reason that we stayed here for as long as we did. Now that they got rid of him in a sneaky, disgusting way, we wouldn't have returned regardless of whether or not any other rooms were available. DO. NOT. STAY. HERE! 1998-2025 - I've been coming to the Malibu since I was a kid. I'm now 37 with a teenager of my own, and this is the only place I will stay in all of Wildwood. Tom is the kindest, sweetest manager that I've ever met at a hotel. Him, his wife and family are the main reason why we will only stay here. Every room is privately owned and rented out, so no matter which room you get, it's always a new experience. They're all decorated differently, some have bunk beds, and most have private bedrooms and full kitchens (stoves, utensils, plates, bowls, cups, full refrigerators, toasters, coffee pots, etc). The pool is heated and is kept immaculately clean, as is the rest of the premises. It has grills, picnic tables with umbrellas, lounge chairs, a sundeck, and a game room. The prices are extremely reasonable as well. Hands down, THE BEST place to stay in ALL of Wildwood. It's on 19th Avenue and only a half of a block away from the boardwalk and beach. It's my home away from home! IF YOU ARE READING THIS IN 2026, SEE MY EDIT AT THE TOP AND AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS.

We just stayed at the malibu for our first time. Tom was extremely nice and accommodating. The location is quite convenient with close proximity to the beach and boards. We booked a room that slept 5. It does not. The room was extremely small, the pull-out couch was a bed of springs, definitely outdated and not an updated accommodation. The two full beds were very uncomfortable. The bedding looked like it had not been washed in weeks. The room was filthy when we got there. What was the most disappointing was the constant smell of marijuana. We watched owners of units smoke out of a bowl, within feet of the pool where there were young children. Our room constantly smelled like pot, while there was a No Smoking sign on the door. As a NJ resident myself, with family that does partake in what our state has legalized, there is a time and place - smoking a bowl or a rolled joint in the common area was disrespectful. I understand all units are privately owned and some may be better than others. Our unit had zero storage. 3 out of the 5 of us lived out of our suitcases. We couldn't use the kitchen table, as that was used to house the suitcases. The room may sleep 5 but definitely did not accomodate five. Didn't really accomodate 4. Not our cup of tea, we will not be back.

My family has been staying at the Malibu for close to 50 years! MDW 2025 was the worst experience we had at this motel! There are not many rooms that can be rented & and some of the owners make you feel uncomfortable. My mother & son both complained of people staring at them. People were partying near our room on the 2nd floor outdoor lounge area until around 3:30am! My son & niece had trouble sleeping! We definitely felt unwelcome there but it was okay for them to collect money from my husband & brother for a fundraiser ?. I suggest not staying at this motel. The owners want the entire place to themselves. This has nothing to do with the property manager Tom. Tom is a great guy and is always good to our family.

I recently stayed at the Malibu July 2024 and had the best time! The location to the beach couldn’t be more perfect. The room was nice and clean. Also Tom the manager is the best , he is so helpful and accommodating cannot say enough good things. Will definitely be back.

Our family has stayed here my entire life… I am now raising a family of my own. We had a huge group down this year and Tom always makes us feel so welcome and at home. The pool is always in perfect condition, which my 10 month old loved this year. Very clean, very welcoming atmosphere. We love it here and will continue to come as long as we vacation in Wildwood.

I have been staying here with my inlaws for the last 3 years. First, two years were AMAZING. The kids love it, so close to the boardwalk as well as the beach. Last year not so great. We had two rooms we have 9 people in our family. The rooms were supposed to be next to each other but ended up being on completely separate sides of the building, we got over that. When we went to go set up our room with our 3 kids. The pull out bed smelled like pee, seemed as if the sheets were never even touched by either the owner or the last person who rented it. The smell was so bad we had to leave the door open and leave the room for a bit. We told the staff and they came in and changed the sheets... great but never wiped it down, aired the mattress out. Just put sheets on the bed and folded it back up. We never opened it after that night. The AC almost didn't work. TV was completely outdated. Finally, we had to leave the room. The bedsheets and blanket had blood stains on them. I was disgusted on our first night and ready to go home at that point. I am not sure that my inlaws will want to go back here again. Sucks because we love the pool and how close it is to everywhere. I cringe thinking about going away again.
