The Sunset Beach Hotel receives mixed reviews, with a strong location near the boardwalk and convention center being a key positive. However, significant concerns regarding cleanliness, staff responsiveness, and inconsistent room conditions have emerged, particularly concerning issues like mold, bugs, malfunctioning appliances, and aggressive billing practices. Recent reviews highlight a decline in service and maintenance.

We had a fantastic stay at this beautifully renovated hotel! The location couldn't be better—it’s right in front of the Boardwalk and just one block from the convention center, making it incredibly convenient to get around. Our room featured a large balcony complete with comfortable patio furniture, and we loved that there was a grill available for guests to use. The friendly staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. A huge bonus for us was that the kids were able to use the pool at their sister hotel property, which they absolutely loved. We will definitely be back!

BAIT & SWITCH! Reserved 4 nights starting 9/15. When I arrived, they said no room was available, but they would move me to Paradise Inn. The room had no hot water, filthy microwave, and terrible paint job bleeding all over windows. I asked for my money back, I'd find another hotel. Miraculously, NOW they said they DO have a room at Sunset Beach. I don't do business with liars, so I demanded a refund. They said my Priceline reservation was non-refundable. I have contacted Priceline, they have contacted the hotel, and the hotel will not respond. SUMMARY: They took my money and fulfilled ZERO of their obligation. PRICELINE.com and BOOKING.com should not allow them to advertise on their sites. Do not do business with Sunset Beach nor Paradise Inn. They lied to me and then pressured me to accept a terrible room in a totally different hotel. What will they do to you? Sadly, I think they own several other hotels in the area in addition to these two, but Priceline said they were unable to tell me which other hotels are operated by this outfit.

my fiance and i stayed here last week and checked out yesterday. we stayed for 1 week. the piggy back parking was a bit of a pain. because my car was blocked in. and if you are expecting to do something early in the morning it's impossible because no one at the desk answers the phone. my car was blocked in and i tried calling at 8 am to move it and it was impossible. thank goodness i didn't book an 8am fishing trip or i would've missed it. the ice machine didn't work the entire week, it had a orange light flashing everyday saying "filter" so we had to buy ice everyday at the dollar store. the grills also do not work properly. the pillows are absolutley atrocious and the bed is so squeaky. the blinds were also not good at all we had to put a blanket over so it wasn't as bright as the sun in the morning. the location is great, right on the boardwalk in the perfect spot. the house keeping lady was very sweet. but i do not recommend overall. checking out was a bit of a mess because it took forever to get the front desk to move the car blocking me in. and 4 hours after we left the manager called my fiance angry saying we never left our keys... we left both of our keys on the front desk..

In our experience, the staff were all nice, but the room itself was not close to nice. Upon first walking in there was a strong musty odor in the room. The AC was turned off and it was very hot in the room. I went to turn the AC on and saw that it was covered in black mold, so I did not use it and just sweat all night. There were dozens of fruit flies flying around the room, but I couldn’t find the source. The TV was not working. The curtains would not shut all the way because the bracket for the rod was pulled out of the wall. The smoke detector was removed and had wires dangling from the mount for it. The quiet hours are not enforced as people were outside the rooms chatting until 1am and you could hear everything clearly through the walls. The trash outside the rooms was overflowing. You have to share parking lanes with other guests and leave your car keys at the desk for them to move your vehicle otherwise you will get ticketed and towed, which was not mentioned upon booking. The building fire alarm was going off at 12:45am and wasn’t loud enough to hear it well in the rooms, thankfully I was awake otherwise I’d have slept through it. The pictures online were not what the room looked like. The furniture was falling apart. The floor was covered in sand and made it very slippery to the point my son and I fell walking through the room. Heavy amount of cigarette smoking all around the building, especially in front of the rooms. No window screens to allow fresh air in without the bugs. The nightstand was dirty. The location is prime. If you don’t mind the inconveniences listed above and are looking for a good location on a budget, this is it for sure. Very convenient for access to Morey’s Piers and the boardwalk as well as the convention center. I’m sure other rooms are better than the one we got, but I can’t say for sure as I can only rate based off of my experience alone.

My family and I came on a 3 day mini vacation and our overall experience here was great! We were greeted by Robert and he was an amazing guy! Our room was on the third floor, the room was very clean and great view. Everything was nearby, the only bad thing was the parking. It wasn’t the worse but it’s a tight parking space with cars parking close to you. Thank you Robert for making the experience run smooth and really nice??!

It’s a good place just to lay your head but if you’re looking for a nice place do not go here. The beds looked nothing like the pictures, they checked us in and the room ended up not even being ready, so we had to wait again after being told we had to wait 2 extra hours from the original check in time we were given. The TV didn’t work, there was no mirror in the bathroom, if you turned the shower nose even a little bit past cold your skin would practically burn off, the door would not open we had to push with 2 people slamming their whole body weight, we were rushed to check out when check was at 10 and we had house keeping come and bang on our door at 9:30 trying to get us out..honestly there was just too many things wrong with this place. Will not be staying here again

Great location and affordable, the good DOES NOT out weigh all of the bad however. The room is not clean, bugs everywhere and the staff doesn't care if you ask for no disturbance until checkout. We came back to find maids in our room, many of our belongings were moved and our drawers were gone through !!!!! We also found that the door lock fails and defaults to leaving the door unlocked randomly. Staff were nice with exception being the older gentleman that works there, absolutely miserable!!! Definitely will never stay here again.....

great hotel. Very clean. Kitchen came with plates as well I was very shocked. The bathroom is amazing, the shower has jets coming out of the wall. Outside your door is a little sitting area. 10/10 recommend

Amazing hotel for the price! The front receptionist was a super friendly dude and very understanding. The hotel was really nice and one of the only few hotels in the area that accepts 18 year olds checking in (with valid id only and 200$ cash deposit). I got the room with the kitchenette and the room was very clean and smelled pleasant. Bathroom was a bit small but that was alright. All in all I had a wonderful experience at sunset beach hotel! I’ll definitely be staying here again Ps: There is a family dollar right across the street which is helpful for some late night munchies, the board walk is also 1 minute away

The room was perfect for my husband and my 2 children. The location was just a block off the boardwalk and not far from the convention center. We accidentally left our room key in our room and Abdul was so helpful with getting us back in our room. There was an issue with our lock pad and it was fixed the same day . The only problem was no room services were performed even with sign on the door . We needed towels and were out quickly with the 4 of us. Overall the stay was excellent and we will be back . Also I do walk with a cane so being on the third floor was a lot , I just suggest future if you can accommodate for handicap .
