The Royal Court Motel consistently receives mixed reviews, with recurring concerns about cleanliness, outdated facilities, and unprofessional staff behavior. While some guests praise the location and affordability, numerous reports detail issues ranging from unsanitary conditions to disrespectful service and maintenance problems. Recent reviews indicate a significant decline in quality and customer service standards.
We booked here because of the positive reviews... 4.1-4.2 ?? on Google is pretty good! We have stayed at other Wildwood hotels so we knew what to expect. However, we were not prepared for staying in a third world country ?. The room was basically clean; however, we did not want to put our suitcase on the floor. We moved a table and found a dirty fork ?. There was no screen in the bathroom windows, windows were open when we checked in. We tried to tough it out. We were sitting outside on the first floor, and the people above us were dripping onto our heads because the balcony was constructed of just slats. Children were swimming in the pool announcing they were peeing! ????We could not sleep here and asked for a refund after just a few minutes. The no refund policy sign with a lady greeting you in the office giving you the finger should have been our first clue to run! The manager responded to our complaints with" You booked the cheapest hotel in Wildwood, what did you expect?" while he was conducting business shirtless ?. He was screaming at my husband, totally unprofessional. He is absolutely correct. You get what you pay for! We will not be back. We went one block over to the Seahorse Inn and had a quiet, beautiful room and excellent service!
The location was great — conveniently located next to a Dollar General, which definitely came in handy. While I understand the reasoning behind the request to leave car keys in the hotel room, I personally don’t agree with this practice and found it a bit uncomfortable. The rooms themselves are extremely dated. Given the cost of the stay, it seems reasonable to expect some minor updates. Simple upgrades like new lampshades and fresh comforters would go a long way in making the rooms feel more modern and inviting. A little attention to these details could really enhance the overall guest experience.
Giving this place 3 stars is extremely generous. If given the option, it would be more like 2.5 stars. Let me start with the positives about this place: 1. GREAT Location - literally a 2 minute walk to the boardwalk and 10 minute walk to the beach. 2. Family Dollar - is right across the street, easy for any other convenience items you may need 3. Service - it appears no one is in the office in the mornings and evenings, but from 2-8pm the front desk lady was helpful in getting maintenance to fix our fridge and get extra towels. Here are the negatives: 1. The motel is in bad shape. Aesthetically, the motel is in need of some TLC throughout the entire facility. 2. Pool was cloudy - there was actually a sign on the pool gate saying that it did not pass inspection from the health department; and people were still swimming in it… 3. Motel rooms outdated and beat up; the rooms are very antiquated and worn out. You could see stains on the walls and on the bed sheets. 4. Other guests - the people next to our room were smoking weed and it stunk. People were a little loud, especially at night (thankfully we had a sound machine). My word of advice is that if you plan on staying here, manage your expectations. You get what you pay for. This is not a place where you lounge around the motel all day and have a relaxing time; it’s primarily for sleeping. If you plan on actively exploring wildwood and doing lots of activities, then this motel would be a better fit.
I am only writing this review because they are now claiming because I made complaints that I left the room a mess. So I will be letting everyone know on every platform. I rented two apartments rooms. A week before I went the establishment canceled my room after I already confirmed it the week prior. The lady at the front desk was very quick in fixing the mistake and polite. When we arrived, there were holes in the walls and in the furniture. The frig was missing glass and the shelves were not able to fold anything because they were broken. The fixtures on the wall were all broken. My sheet had a blood stain. My bathroom had black mold. The downstairs unit had a gas leak in which the maintenance man put literal tape over the nob and said it would be fine. When everyone including the young children in the room could smell the gas. A family member had to find the lever to turn off the actual gas to the room. I had no hot water one of the 2 days I stayed. I got a $55 ticket because the desk lady told me to park on the street because there were no spots. The only plus is that the manager keeps the pool opened all night, but the establishment is run down and parking is terrible. There was nobody at the front desk majority of the time except for at checkin when they were busy checking in guests so I was unable to complain to someone in person. Luckily I took pictures to prove my case because they said they were going to charge me $150 for their damages that were already in the room that they likely charged someone else that did the damage for. They tried to blame it on number of occupants which they were aware i had 6 people in my room that fit 10. They even messaged me and implied you get what you get when you pick the cheapest hotel. Do not recommend overall due to the safety hazards. The rooms are spacious but they definitely need to have better customer service and not try to get out of refund requests by making false claims. I would have returned had they not made false claims and made good with addressing my very serious complaints. Unfortunately there are still not so good people in the world that want to take advantage of others.
Definitely do NOT stay or book a room at this motel. NO maid service at all, towels are supposed to be available at front desk but no one is in the office to get them and they won't answer the phone or return messages, pool never closes and kids screaming in pool after midnight, shower is filthy never cleaned and no bigger than a small box. TERRIBLE place to stay. Again, DO NOT book this motel.
I'm not a fan of this hotel. It's run down and when I got there they lost my hotel key so it took 1.5 hours before they made a replacement. Mark the maintenance guy is the only reason this place doesn't fall apart. Thanks for all your help Mark.
Do Not Stay At This Hotel!!!!!!! I brought my girls on a vacation for my daughter's birthday and let me just say it was a nightmare from the start! Check in isn't until 3 pm and the office is closed and no one will answer the phone even if you needed an earlier check in. The whole place is disorganized and filthy! When we tried to use the bathroom the toilet overflowed into the room. The maintenance guys came in and started cursing and blaming the back up on us when we just checked into the room. I couldn't believe they could act like that in front my my young children. They plunged the toilet, didn't sanitize anything and used towels to wipe up the floor. My daughter then tried to use the bathroom after and it filled up again leaving us without the use of a toilet for our entire stay. When I tried to contact management about the issue there was no return call until after we checked out two days later. The manager himself didn't call. It was a female who spoke broken English. I wanted to keep the peace especially in front of my girls but at the end of the day I was mistreated in every way possible. If you want to enjoy a couple nights at the beach I highly recommend looking into any other hotel.
If you’re looking for a place just to rest your head at night or party with the rest of the trashy partygoers that show up in Jersey, then this is your go to spot, if not, I highly suggest going some place else. Firstly, they cancelled my reservation without even notifying me. I only found out once I had gotten there even though I had been calling the front desk for weeks to ask about my room. With that, their accommodations were horrible as I am in a big family, put into a two bedroom room for a night because there were no other vacancy even though we had our initial reservations and down payments done. Secondly, the rooms are outdated and the walls are paper thin. The partygoers absolutely ruin your sleep, they will bang and yell and play horrible music right outside your room even though there is a noise ordinance that states you cannot be loud past nine. Shout out to the people sitting right on the chairs outside of my room blasting music at 11 at night! Lastly, the pools were so gross and unkempt. Why are both pools green and murky? Totally disgusting. This place needs some serious reevaluation, the customer service needs to improve, the surroundings need to be cleaner and renovated, and the guests need to be kept in check especially when family’s are staying in rooms. If not, lower the prices, too expensive to sleep surrounded by weirdos and messiness.
DO NOT STAY HERE. My boyfriend and I stayed at the Royal Court Motel for a quick little vacation just recently. Upon arrival, the man checking us in argued with us that we did not pay, even though I showed him our reservation number and receipt. After finally getting checked in, we were brought to a below par room. The bathroom door wouldn't close all the way, the drawers were wobbly, bed barely put together, and the door lock was broken. We decided to settle in for the night when about an hour later the same man who checked us in opened the door on us and was about to walk into our room. My boyfriend, obviously upset, chased him down only for his answer to be that he was "cleaning junk from empty rooms". But you put us in this room?? It made no sense. A few moments later, I get a text on my phone from the manager saying our room was ready. This room had a completely different number than the one we were staying in, so now the both of us were beyond confused. After checking out the room that, I guess, was supposed to be ours we decided to move all of our stuff down to the room. It was midnight by this point. We found the same man who walked into our room and explained the situation, and then settled in for the night. The next morning, we get woken up at 5:30 AM to knocking on our door. The manager began yelling at us about not being allowed in this room, even though we showed him the text that HE SENT to us! After waking up the entire hotel with his yelling, he finally left us be. Safe to say we will not be returning at all.
I can’t stress how fake these reviews are. The room was awful and staff was friendly BUT very unprofessional. Had to flag down room service to check in, because the front was under construction. After a staffing argument in front of me on whether the room was ready, a man showed up to check me in in the front room that was under construction. He couldn’t find the keys and seemed like he probably wasn’t the usual staff. I went into the room and oh boy was it a mess. I stayed at Royal court in 2021 and had no complaints, this time that was not the case. Everything in the room was either broken, rusty or dirty. I probably would have just left if there was actually a manager that could give me a refund and I didn’t have 2 kids that were about to explode from waiting. There was a chair in the room we actually wrapped in a blanket it was so nasty. Not sure why they wouldn’t just throw it out or shampoo it. We went across the street to family dollar, bought a broom, disinfectant wipes, floor soap and air freshener. Cleaned the room ourselves and stayed for our 3 days. Wish I would have took more photos. The bathroom was so beat up and rusty, but I just didn’t get photos for some reason. The dresser was missing a drawer. The kitchen table was so heavy and had a broken leg so it could have literally killed a kid underneath it. Upper pool was green and broken. Under the beds were sooooo dirty my kids pulled out some stuff before I even got photos. I am very low maintenance when it comes to hotels and motels. I have never actually written a bad review on a stay until now, but it was so cosmically bad I felt I should warn people.
