Shalimar Resort Motel receives mixed reviews, with some guests praising its location, cleanliness, and friendly staff, while others report issues with room size, inaccurate reservations, and neglected maintenance. Concerns about mold and a lack of responsiveness from management are significant drawbacks.
This motel has an excellent location however the rooms are VERY small. Do not believe the description on the amount of people that it can accommodate. I would say 2 adults and 2 small children at most. The pull out couch mattress has to be as old as the motel. The room I had was not renovated in probably 50 years. On a positive note, it was clean and the lady at the desk , Cindy, was very helpful and understanding. They moved us to a sister hotel in wildwood (Bolero) which is for a younger crowd who enjoys loud music from the bar downstairs. Needless to say , our much anticipated vacation was a bust. And a costly one for not doing our homework
Close to the beach, room was clean but needed some upgrades. The service we received was great. I need to mention that if you have a small child, be wary of the locks on the gate to the pool, as people don't latch them after they enter/exit, and this caused me to be on guard with my little guy.
We just had our family vacation here and we will not be coming back. After adjusting our reservation via phone, they put it in the system entirely wrong. I was assured over the phone all of the details and that they weren’t sure why the system was only putting 2 people for 1 of our rooms (2 adults 2 kids) but it would be just fine with 2 beds in each room. Well, it wasn’t correct and the “manager” didn’t seem to care. She claimed she would try to help, but fairly certain she did nothing. When I asked for someone else that might be her boss/supervisor, she said she was it. When I asked for some sort of compensation at checkout, she said no because it said the details on my confirmation email. Sorry that I didn’t know “BK” stood for a king room. No couch, nothing to help with the sleeping arrangements. Next time I’ll pay more for better quality/service/getting my reservation correct.
We had a nice stay overall. The staff was friendly and helpful especially our 2 cleaning ladies. However, our 2 outside chairs were broken. I complained about the one that was in the worst shape and a maintenance man replaced it with a small hard indoor wooden chair. When I asked the front desk if they would get me another chair they stated that they didn’t have any extra chairs. Maybe it’s not a bad idea to keep some extra chairs for when something like this happens.
First time staying and it was a decent stay. A mix of an old bathroom and new furniture in the room we booked, but that was expected. The beds were very comfortable and we actually slept very well. Wish the blinds on the front window were a bit thicker as it let some unwanted light in when morning arrived. Plenty of towels for everyone and the body wash, shampoo, and conditioner were fantastic. One concern I had, which is such a regular theme with Wildwood hotels, is that it could use a deep clean. Like deep clean the HVAC vents that are visible, furniture, walls, etc. Sometimes when I see something that was such an easy item to clean is missed, it brings doubt as to what is actually cleaned and sanitized. And therefore affects whether I stay there again.
Mold on Sofa — Extremely Disappointed and Concerned We recently stayed at the Shalimar in Wildwood, NJ, and unfortunately had a very upsetting experience. After a full week at the hotel, we discovered mold all over the pull-out sofa — after we had already checked out. The worst part is that my 7-year-old child had been sleeping on that sofa the entire week. This is not just an issue of cleanliness — it’s a serious health concern. Mold exposure can be harmful, especially for children. I’m incredibly disappointed that something like this went unnoticed or unaddressed by hotel staff. A simple inspection or routine maintenance could have prevented this. I contacted the hotel and only received an apology — no offer of compensation or any meaningful resolution. For the price we paid and the trust we placed in this property, this was completely unacceptable. I hope this review encourages management to take cleanliness and guest safety more seriously moving forward.
Very nice and clean rooms, pleasant atmosphere, staff was wonderful, pool was clean and heated, walking distance to the beach & Boardwalk
This is a really nice hotel. I can honestly say the staff were amazing. The Front desk staff and the cleaning staff were really nice. The pool was nice and clean. It was heated as well. The rooms were clean just a little outdated and small. they can definitely update their towels, but we were good because we had our own. We had a two full/queen size bedroom. It’s a great location, right next to the beach. I would also recommend Sal’s pizzeria. They have great pizza, wings, and cannolis!!! Definitely go visit them!!
We stayed for 2 nights and loved our stay here. The location is excellent - just a 5 mins walk to the beach, outdoor pool, very nice and accommodating staff that ensured we receive exceptional guest service.
Wow! This hotel definitely had a total remodel of the rooms! To think I almost booked a room twice as expensive due to old poor reviews!! CLEAN fresh and new rooms. Great location and great price, nothing more I could ask for. Oh and an ATM in the lobby- super convenient. Hands down the cleanest room I have ever stayed at on the Jersey Shore.
