The Blue Water Motel receives mixed reviews, with some guests praising its cleanliness and proximity to the beach, while others report issues with staff demeanor, aggressive pricing practices, and a lack of kid-friendly amenities. Recent reviews highlight concerns regarding booking policies and customer service.
The staff did not give family friendly energy. We were staying for one night over Labor Day weekend. My son was truly excited to finally get to the beach after a long car ride. He is pretty hyperactive, and I know that can be jarring at first. I also know my son is very tall and appears to be older than he actually is. But at the end of the day, he was just being a 5 year old boy. Yes he rang the doorbell, twice. He touched a few of many pamphlets displayed for what I would assume would be for the guests of the motel. He was interested in the ice cream freezer that is on the guest’s side of the counter. He did ask the woman’s name who was checking us in (she did not respond), and did attempt to give her a hug behind the counter. I did not allow him to go behind the counter of course. She asked me to have him stop “running around” which he was not running around but I asked him to anyway. She made it very apparent that our room was ON TOP on the office, stating this information several times. I am assuming she thought we would cause commotion. She also asked me several times if it would just be us two in the room, which I thought was different. I replied yes every time she asked, but she felt the need to keep double checking. We ended our interaction with her saying “he’s quite a handful.” Yes mam, he is sometimes, as are a lot of children. He was a very excited, hyperactive 5 year old boy who was literally overjoyed to be at the beach -at this motel. He broke nothing, he was not rude, he did not scream and not one thing was out of place when we left the office. We caused no trouble in our room despite being on top of the office, and left the room as clean as we found it. Sometimes children are seen and heard, not just seen. Sometimes children are truly interested in the display items in new places. Sometimes interactions like this are teachable moments for a child. There were many ways we could have been treated and communicated with upon checking in. The way we were welcomed left me feeling very uncomfortable, like we didn’t belong. The property was everything you needed for a quick beach trip. The rooms were immaculately clean, were quiet and a block away from the beach, not to mention the price point was great! Although this property had 99% of what I love when visiting this beach, it did not feel kid friendly. Totally fine to not be a kid place, but a warning stating this before booking would have been very helpful. I do not like to bother anyone. I do not allow my child to act any way he pleases. I do not take my child places children do not belong. Leaving the blue water motel, I felt like I took my kid to a 5 star establishment and allowed him to act unacceptably. I will be staying at the many other motels in the area who have truly welcomed me and my very excited kid this beach season.
Been going to wildwood for more than 10 years. The issues here are the beds are small. Rooms are smallish. They don't clean your rooms daily. The woman at the desk had an issue with everything the kids were doing while playing outside or in the pool!
Very clean and customer service was excellent great area right next to beach I will be back soon best weekend was there over the weekend love it loved it’s family owned
Room smelled lick stink bugs!!! Everything felt dirty and insanitary and dirty. I asked for some Lysol and they didn't even know what that was... I wouldn't recommend this motel to my worst enemy!! We booked a room for 1 night so I didn't have any extra clothes to put on to protect my body from bed bugs gross couldn't wait to leave. We would have left right away but we're extremely tired from to beach all day!! How disappointing
Here right now. The guy working the desk is super nice. Probably the cleanest room I've ever been in. Our room was a little small but we aren't in it much anyway. The pool is very clean and well kept. I would highly recommend
Absolutely garbage! They tried charging me an extra $250 for having 3 kids with us after paying $1000 for a 5 night stay. There wasn't any signs or warnings mentioning that it is $50 extra a night for each child. I told them that I wanted a refund and they refused and told me to pay the $250 or just be put the $1000 that I already paid. This is a scam to the fullest. I finally talked to someone to refund my money, but they are charging me a $100 fee for it. Pay close attention to these scam hotels. They only want your money, and will scam you in some kind of way to get it! Disgusting!! Response to Owner: You blame Expedia, but I have never used them. I have been booking hotels for 15 years through Hotels.com and never had a hotel charge per person also, after booking and charging for a 6 person suite. You knew that I didn't just have 2 people after booking a 6 person suite, an that's why you called and asked how many people I had. You knew it was non refundable and even dare tried to get more money out of me. You knew this while even acknowledging I was on a family vacation with kids. Hotels.com tried giving me a full refund, but you absolutely refused. You then said you would give me a refund, but charged me a $100 fee! Again, to do that to a family traveling out of town is absolutely disgusting. Again, AVOID THIS SCAM MOTEL!!
The owners are watching you every second, can’t have visitors, they kept the security deposit after a towel was dirty. Toilet was leaking, just had an awful time staying here
I'd go to the hotel across the street if I were you. That is, unless you enjoy the owner of the place breathing down your neck. The pool closes at 6pm for some reason, including the hot tub, which isn't posted anywhere. If you leave a day early, they will not refund your money. Their predatory business practices will put you out of your money, and just add stress to your trip. Do yourself a favor and book your stay across the street if you know what's good for you. Please read into some of the other reviews as well.
Horrible customer service and practices. I called them minutes after making an accidental booking with my dates. Just had the dates put in wrong. Was told the room was booked for the days I wanted and I would not get a refund of the $240 I paid. Was then told, “actually if you pay $300 more you can have that room, but no refund.” So $540 if I want the room, but no refund. It’s very poor business to charge someone for something they didn’t even use when they call you moments after making an accidental booking. My accidental booking was for a month out and had no negative impact on your business. I called you literally as soon as I made the accidental booking and you take $240 from a customer. Now, instead of coming back year after year with my family and telling all my friends about your place, you’ll only get negative word of mouth. For $240! Dumb. Updated: I also use Expedia for my business. Stop blaming Expedia for your shady services. 13 day policy, 28 day policy, 7 day policy. You are making it all up. You are taking money for services you did not provide. I made a brief error as a customer that had no negative impact on your business and you took full advantage. Is Expedia getting most of my money? That’s your choice. And it’s my choice to say your policies and customer service are awful. If Expedia is so horrible to your customers, stop using it for your business.
3 days after I booked a room, I needed to cancel. Apparently their cancellation policy does not refund your money if you cancel within 4 weeks of your stay. I booked within 4 weeks of my stay so how does that even make sense. Seems like fraud to me. So they kept my money and will book the room again and make double. I WOULD NOT SUGGEST BOOKING WITH THIS HOTEL UNLESS YOU HAVE MONEY TO THROW AROUND.
