After more than 15 years of staying at The Starlux as a family, we have unfortunately decided that we will not be returning. This decision is especially disappointing because this place once felt like a second home to us. During our most recent stay, our room flooded during a rainstorm. The water soaked the floor and damaged several of our belongings that were stored in boxes on the floor. When we brought the issue to management, the response was simply, “That’s just what happens when it rains.” There was no apology, no offer to help, and no indication that the issue would be investigated. I cannot imagine anyone accepting that response if the same thing were happening in their own home. The breakfast experience has also changed significantly. In previous years, breakfast was available every day. Now, it is apparently “subject to occupancy,” something guests have no way of knowing or planning for when they make a reservation. During our stay, breakfast was available only two of the three mornings. If complimentary breakfast is advertised as an amenity, guests should reasonably expect it to be available during their stay. The breakfast hours have also been reduced to just 8:00–10:00 a.m. One morning, I went downstairs around 7:30 a.m. to ask an employee about breakfast and saw an associate in the breakfast area preparing herself a bagel—one of the same foods offered to guests. It was difficult not to wonder why employees could access the breakfast items before guests could. The hot tub is another example of how the guest experience has changed. Guests now have to ask the front desk to turn on the bubbles and may have to wait up to 15 minutes. There is still a timer installed for the hot tub, but management explained that the bubbles are only intended to run for 15 minutes and that employees will turn them off when that time is reached—even if guests are still using the hot tub. If the existing timer is not functioning properly, the solution should be to repair or replace it rather than make guests ask an employee every time they want to use the feature. None of these issues alone would necessarily have caused us to stop coming. What is most disappointing is the overall decline in customer service. After being loyal guests for more than 15 years, we used to feel like family here. Now, we no longer feel like valued customers. It is genuinely sad to see the decline at The Starlux. We have so many great memories here, which makes it even harder to say that we will not be returning.

staying here with my family ( toddlers 2 & 4 ) and my husband was a nice vacation!all the rooms are by the pool which is nice , the pool opens early and closes late it has a gated baby side which my daughters loved!! The rooms were tidy, compy beds and the staff is very nice! and treated us kindly :) they go above even without you asking( making sure i had towels and ice etc. ) they are family owned and really do accommodate to everyones needs. did i mention the hotel is like 2 blocks from the board walk/ beach which was convenient,they even gave us a parking permit for your car to hang up, it's hard ro find hotels budget friendly/ family friendly thank you again jade we will be seeing you next time!

Well kept hotel, comfortable and clean. Good staff. They have a lot of extras other hotels won't have. Pool and hot tub were great just super crowded. This is not a party hotel just families. Will absolutely be back.

Our first time back in Wildwood and several years. Wanted the Doo Wop experience. Starlux is a great hotel. Great location. Ice cream, golf, amble parking, clean pool and grounds, complementary beach chairs and bikes. You can’t go wrong.

Can’t say enough about this place. My wife and I stayed in the Petite Room in the small house located behind the hotel. Way bigger than I thought it would be. It was absolutely wonderful air-conditioning was perfect and if you leave it on the line that helps drown out noise going on around you. The room was very clean, well stocked with toiletries. Bed was comfortable and the shower had great temp and pressure. The location was absolutely perfect and within walking distance to wonderful restaurants, as well as the boardwalk.

My friends and I came to spend the weekend here, and at first were treated well by the lady at the front desk. However there was an issue with the rooms (irrelevant to the review), and the owner had to come speak to us. He was very nasty to us and unnecessarily rude, and he had a bad attitude. In the end, we didn’t end up staying there because he eventually said that if we did, we would be kicked out, not refunded, and get reported to the police for trespassing. I DO NOT recommend staying here.

This was such a wonderful hotel! The location was so great and parking was a breeze. The breakfast was just enough with bagels, pastries, oatmeal, juice and coffee. The staff for the most part was very friendly. The rooms were cleaned each day and reset. The only downside was that we started with the standard queen for a family of 4 and it was way too small. Once we upgraded to the queen suite we all fit so much better. We will be back to stay again!

Don't think they do too much maintenance of the "cottage " rooms. Very sparse. Dirty AC vent and filter, and not properly installed. Tub faucets leaked at the stems, so freezing cold or scalding hot to turn them on/off. Very small everything. Bed against a window. Mattress was a spring board. Will pay more for something else.

Retro Charm, Great Extras We booked at the Starlux for the classic Doo Wop architecture but ended up being totally blown away by the place. The hotel rooms are 95% balcony rooms looking out on the gorgeous pool. The rooms are of course VERY dated because of the age of the hotel, but we knew that going in, plus they are perfectly comfortable for 2-3 people. Surprisingly they were also quiet which wasn't expected considering the busy intersection the Starlux is on. The bathrooms were adorable with all the tile work & were perfectly clean. The room was well equipped with both a microwave & fridge/freezer, perfect for all the boardwalk leftovers. Plenty of outlets & the Smart TV was very useful for us. Unfortunately the standard rooms are quite small & would likely be cramped for larger groups though. The hotel amenities were great too. Of course the standout was the huge pool but we also liked the free washer & dryer, free beach gear rental, Doo Wop Lounge, & beach wash-off area. The pool was never too busy for us, was spotless clean, & served as a great nightlight after dark. The provided breakfast was decent enough, though don't expect anything beyond some juice, milk, muffins, & pastries. Parking was never an issue, the hotel has its own large lot that is strictly for hotel guests only. The Starlux location is next to perfect with only a short 1 block walk to the boardwalk & beach. The Boardwalk Tram can take you the full length of the boardwalk from there, & for everywhere else the hotel offers bike rentals for free. The Starlux also had some extra addons that we adored. Attached to the Hotel is an amazing 3 course Mini Golf course that had a number of its own amenities that we used while we stayed. There was a welcoming outdoor fire pit & food truck. While we were there it was a great lil' coffee stand in a gorgeous old Airstream, but I understand that they swap out the food truck by year. There's also a permanent Kohr Bros location which was a great way to end one of our nights. Additionally as the Starlux is owned by the Moreys Pier group we took full advantage of the steep $40 discount on combo park passes both days. The staff were nothing but exceptional while we were there. I specifically want to shout out to the front desk attendant. The one night we were caught in a torrential downpour walking back from dinner, & seeing us coming she quickly gathered fresh towels & met us at the door to help us dry off. It was a small thing, but helped turn a bad experience around. The Starlux Hotel was meant to just be a pretty place to rest our heads but ended up being a warm & welcoming home for us during our Wildwood Vacation. Highly Recommended.

Great location, with nice enough rooms, but what a nightmare of an overall experience because of the some of the other guests and the staff. The place has paper thin walls and with a cheerleading convention in town there were dozens of young, unsupervised, children screaming at the top of their lungs running through the hallways, doors constantly slamming and just causing general chaos both inside and outside the hotel. Spoke with the front desk several times as it was fairly constant, and it continued well into the evening both nights of our trip. I was told there was nothing that could be done. Impossibly long waits for the single elevator because the cheerleaders decided to use it as a toy all weekend long, holding it in between floors while playing. Overall it was a decent enough hotel for the price with a great location right off the beach, but if you’re looking for any type of quiet or relaxation make sure you’re aware that the inmates are apparently running the jail here, guests can basically do whatever they want regardless of how it affects other guests, and staff will do nothing to address it.
