The El Coronado Resort offers a beachfront location in Wildwood, New Jersey, with amenities like a pool and restaurant. Recent reviews highlight a mix of positive experiences, including cleanliness and friendly staff, alongside significant concerns regarding accessibility issues, particularly related to the pool area, and inconsistent service. Older rooms and some outdated policies are also noted.
after an exhaustive search last summer I finally booked a stay at the el coronado for myself and my teenage son ... I had to cancel reservations at two other locations due to issues with accessibility...I utilize both a rollating walker and a mobility scooter so prior to booking at the el coronado I "studied" the website floor plan and made MULTIPLE calls to the front desk to be assured that the room layout would meet my needs...thankfully there were no real issues with the room but imagine my surprise when I made my way outside to the beautiful pool area I had seen in the photos only to be met by sets of stairs on all sides! ... in the year 2025 why would a hotel/condominium in a vacation town not be ADA-compliant?? ... with all the amenities offered including cabanas and hot tubs the cost to ramp one corner would be minimal ... and in all my phone calls discussing my specific needs not once did a front desk representative mention that the pool and decks were completely inaccessible....I was forced to spend my vacation monitoring my son in the pool from the balcony of our room...my vacation was such a disappointment because of the lack of accessibility to the pool and decks (as well as the gift shop which is also inaccessible!)....I spent a great deal of money on this vacation and to be denied use of all the property's amenities was not only upsetting to me and my son but it it a form of discrimination to someone who has mobility issues....how about thinking about doing what is right and make some changes... {I attempted 3x to speak w/ the manager while there who was conveniently always "on his way to a meeting" (he even walked right past me twice)...he could not even give me two minutes of his time!....}
The service and location of this hotel are superb. Located in a quieter section of Wildwood Kruse. We enjoyed a two nights stay in a beachfront room. During the week in September, the rooms were very affordable. Breakfast at the hotel was tasty in the newly renovated dining area. This location offered great access to exploring Wildwood and Cape May. It’s also very easy just to walk down to the beach and enjoy the location if you don’t feel like going anywhere. Everything was clean and the amenities are very comfortable. We look forward to returning!
Overall the hotel was very clean and a nice place. Our main issues were the TV, which was horrible, few channels and basically antenna channels. There was a coffee maker in the room but coffee. The balcony window and others were terribly dirty. One weird issue was the front desk women registering on the 24th was outside across the street from the hotel that night yelling to a person on the floor above us, we were on our balcony as well, and thought she was yelling to us. She was very, very rude saying "there was absolutely NO smoking on the property and that she told him the same thing yesterday" The entire side of the hotel could hear her yelling at him from the street. I'm sure she could have handled this more professionally.
We were met by a rude front desk check in. The room was nice. The carpets could’ve been cleaner. The TV didn’t work “ because it was raining” so we couldn’t get a good picture. No internet to the TV so couldn’t even stream our own Netflix. When I told the same girl that checked us in, when leaving her response was to bring it to the manager, gave me my receipt and said “ have a nice day”, dismissing me. Great view of the ocean which saved the whole stay. Not sure we’ll be back.
The hotel and the stay was probably the best thing I’ve ever experienced. The hotel was right next to the beach and was literally a minutes walk away. The hotel also had a hot tub, 9 foot pool, 3 foot pool, and a 1 foot pool for the kids. I went with my brother, mom, and dad. The rooms were big and there was 2 queen sized beds and a pull out bed. The room was nicely cleaned and had a kitchen with utensils and plates along with it. There was also 2 tv. One bed was by the door and the other was in a room. The room itself was pretty cozy and nice. We were on the second floor so the balcony view want that good for us but if you were on the third floor or higher, you’d have the best view. Although the price, it was definitely worth it!! But, the only problem was that the diner inside the hotel wasn’t a part of your plan when booking the hotel…
We received pool view but had requested ocean view and although we understand the policy there is no guarantee, however when you book a year in advance and get pool view when people arriving off the street are getting ocean view it hardly seems like that policy should apply. The hotel is clean and the staff are friendly. The food at the restaurant has greatly improved!
Fantastic spot with great service and all the amenities. We were very impressed with everything and would definitely return. Pool area - huge and awesome with a big deck for groups to hang out. It was never crowded and was very clean with a nice hot tub. Easy access to beach and not a big deal if we didn't have our pool "bracelets" on. Restaurant - excellent. We had breakfast both days and the staff were super nice and responsive. Room - small but quite modern and super clean and the kitchenette was fully stocked. Beds were very comfortable. Parking - totally fine and easy Price - it was more expensive than the other motels nearby but worth it
I’m not sure how this place gets such good reviews. The room was so gross. There was hair and eyelash clusters everywhere. Says that cleaning service is from 9-1 but they came to our room everyday at 2:30 when we were showering so we never got our room clean. I’ve never been to a hotel that only has sheets on the bed. The “extra” blankets provided were stored in the closet under a water mark with black mold growing. Water marks and peeling ceiling everywhere in the room. The pool has blue paint chips EVERYWHERE. I was cleaning them off my kids in the shower. Sure, there are good things about this place but the most important thing to me is cleanliness. I wouldn’t even walk without shoes on in the rooms! Definitely not worth the money!
We stayed at El Cornado a few years ago and it was okay, this stay was absolutely remarkable. Not one complaint the 5 nights we were there! It was HOT and pure sun 4 out of the 5 days. The only drawback they should add some shade to the pool area. We rented a cabana for two days and it was awesome! Our kids loved the pool area, loved it was right on the beach, and the extras, movie night , live music, free hot dogs. The rooms were clean, the place smelt so good, the staff was wonderful. We booked for next year and my kids can’t wait to go back!!!!
My girlfriend and I recently stayed at this hotel for a beach vacation. We were looking for someplace with direct access that didn't require us to drag stuff for blocks or get in a car and drive. El Coronado meets that simple requirement very well. The staff were helpful and friendly, but also weren't constantly bothering you. The room we had was fine for 2 people and the price that we paid. The balcony gave us a view of the beach and watching people on the street below was entertaining! The hotel was quiet which is a big plus for us. The beach on this part of Wildwood is very well maintained, clean, staffed, and very family friendly. It got crowded, but it's a Jersey Beach in the summer, to be expected. You could see the hotel's age but also that it is lovingly taken care of. There was a broken elevator which was an inconvenience and the shower door took superhuman strength to move. The parking spaces were as narrow as you could possibly make them, but that's true anywhere at the beach. If we go back to Wildwood Crest we'll be staying at the El Coronado resort!
