Recent guest reviews paint a starkly contrasting picture of Montego Bay Resort. While some guests praise the spacious rooms, convenient location, and friendly staff, a large number express significant concerns regarding cleanliness, maintenance issues, and misleading amenities. The resort appears to be struggling with upkeep and communication, leading to a frustrating and ultimately disappointing experience for many.

I am extremely disappointed with our recent stay. From the moment we arrived, it was one issue after another. First, our toilet did not work. We called twice and even spoke to someone in person, yet no one ever came to fix it. For a suite meant to accommodate a large family, that’s completely unacceptable. The “water park” was incredibly misleading. It consisted of only two small slides that even the little kids in our group couldn’t use. On top of that, the pool water was freezing, making it uncomfortable for the children to swim. The elevator took forever to arrive, and then it was completely broken the next day, which made moving luggage and managing small children extremely difficult. Inside the suite, several basic amenities were either missing or broken. There was no ice bucket and no tub stopper. For a large suite, these are simple things that should absolutely be provided and functional. What upset me the most was being charged an additional $120 upon arrival for “extra people.” When I booked the suite, I clearly explained how many guests we had. I was told this was the only suite that would accommodate our group. The suite includes four bedrooms (three kings, one room with two doubles) plus a pull-out queen. Our group consisted of four couples and four children (two under two). There should have been no surprise charge after I was transparent about the number of guests from the beginning. Overall, the lack of maintenance, poor communication, unexpected fees, and misleading amenities made this stay very frustrating. I would not return or recommend this property based on our experience.

On December 30th, 2025, I called the Montego Bay Hotel to make a reservation for a one night stay at the hotel. I spoke to Joel, and specifically asked to stay in one of the renovated rooms at the hotel. He said that wouldn’t be an issue, and I secured the room for January 10th, 2026. On January 10th, 2026, I checked into room 612 at the hotel. As soon as I opened the door to the hotel room, I knew there was a problem. The kitchen looked as if it was from the 1960’s. I walked further into the room, and discovered the sofa, which was supposed to be a tan color. Unfortunately, the armrests to the couch were black from years of built up dirt. Needing to call my fiancé to let her know about the condition of the room, I looked for a closet to hang the clothes that I brought with me. The only closet in the entire hotel room was a utility closet. Its only use was to store an ancient HVAC unit. I was forced to hang the clothes on the shower rod, so I could make my call. My fiancé and I decided that we did not feel comfortable staying in this filthy hotel room. She immediately made a new reservation at the ICONA hotel, while I went to the front desk to turn in the room key. I spoke to Claude, who offered to let me look at one of the updated rooms. I told Claude that I asked for an updated room the day I made the reservation, and it was obvious that my request fell on deaf ears. I told him that I didn’t feel comfortable sleeping in such a filthy hotel. Claude told me that the hotel manager, Brad, would call me as soon as possible to rectify the situation. After 2 days, I decided to call the hotel to speak to a manager. I called on Monday, January 12th, at 10:00 A.M. I was told that Brad wasn’t working yet. I called back around 2:00 P.M., and spoke to Claude. Again, I was told that Brad wasn’t working yet, and that he only works an hour a day. I left my information with Claude a second time, and asked that Brad call me back. 2 days later, I called the hotel and spoke to a female employee. She told me that Brad wasn’t working, and recommended I send this email. So, a few things. This hotel is a disgrace. I would rather sleep on the beach, than in that filth. Brad sounds like he might be the worst manager in the history of business. I’ve already called my bank and I will fight this charge as if my life depends on it. I don’t need the $204 I spent on that disgusting hotel room, but I’m a man of principle. I will get my refund. If Brad had a shred of integrity, he would’ve called me by now, and offered an apology, in addition to a refund. I’ve included pictures of the filth that lies inside of this hotel. I hope anyone that reads my review decides to stay at any hotel other than that dump. It’s now January 19th, and I still haven’t heard from this dump or it’s sad excuse for a manager.

Our stay Hi we're driving home after staying at your "resort". I don't think I've ever been more disappointed in a hotel stay, let alone a resort. My kids were so excited to swim and play in the "water park" but when we got there it was barely lit, the water must have been barely 60 degrees. My daughter wouldn't even get in, we had to pile into the hot tub bc that was the only water we could tolerate. The towels were basically wash cloths. The bar and restaurant weren't open which was also kind of Frustrating. The woman "working" at the pool mentioned they were debating opening when we arrived but I wish they had just cancelled our reservation and gave our money back. They put us up on the 6th floor and I swear no one else was ip there. The hallways were so dingy and not lit. There were new mattresses in the hallway which we definitely could have used since ours was caved in the middle. There wasn't even a phone in the room to call down to ask for more pillows or blankets which we definitely needed...is that even legal? Like what if something happened?? And it easily could have since none of the doors or windows actually close or lock it seems? The elevators felt like they would break at any second and so slow. Everything is so outdated and broken/rusty. There were pubes in our shower when we arrives. There appeared to be blood on the walls and our blanket? Half the lights worked. The ceiling is exposed. Our microwave didn't work either. I took tons of pictures if you would like to see. We would have left last night since it was so bad but the weather wasn't good and we live over 2 hours away. I've tried several times to contact "management" and left my phone number and name multiple times but I'm sure no one will call me back. Save your money, time and frustration for ANYWHERE else.

You have to clean a little but very large rooms for the 4 bdrm suite. Bathrooms are roomy. All bedrooms have bureaus. Could use more chairs on balcony. Love inside pool. Food was great & big portions in restaurant downstairs

First time here and we absolutely loved it!!! The room we got was amazing. Ocean front with a balcony. My toddler was entertained here and food was right around the corner too! The water park smelled a lot like chlorine it made our eyes burn a little but an open window or something would be perfect there. The older guy that’s always there was also amazing. I had groceries delivered there and he communicated so well with me letting me know they arrived. Definitely will be back!!

I had a very bad experience at this place and will never return. We booked an expensive weekend stay, but the room was a complete disappointment. It was dirty, very old, and not renovated at all. The bed sheets were filthy, making it impossible to sleep, and the towels were also dirty — I was honestly afraid to use them. The couch was completely damaged, and the A/C was full of dust. When I spoke to customer service, they simply said, “okay, we’ll take care of it,” but nothing was done. I had even requested a renovated room when booking, but what we got was a disaster. On top of that, the outdoor swimming pool was full of sand. The only positive thing I can say is that the location is very good, right on the boardwalk. Unfortunately, everything else was unacceptable.

Common areas(halls/elevator)def need updating but units was brand new and exceptionally clean. We stayed in superior/family suite w/ sea view/ocean front.1 bedroom. Views were perfect. Balconies were completely private, AC super cold, water pressure non existent, very quiet.Missing some small touches-no mirror in bedrooms, wastebaskets, paper towel ,screen for sliding door, coffee table but looked like it was literally just redone so hopefully that will come. We only peeked in at indoor pool/water park but it was way better than I was expecting. It was really cute and was clean and looked fun for kids with a snack bar area and play area and hot tubs. Outdoor pool is small. Plenty of chaise lounges and picnic tables on pool deck that spans 3rd level of front of hotel overlooking boardwalk. Location excellent-can walk to rides/piers, catch the tram car or rent a bike right out front but no crowds or noise since it's the beginning of boardwalk. We didn't use our car the whole time. Beaches are smaller which I prefer so no long treks to the ocean. Overall I was fearing run down place from reviews and limited pics online but was pleasantly surprised by the brand new unit and at the end of the day i don't really care what the halls/elevator look like if my room is clean which it really was and housekeeping was there every morning . The views were spectacular and can't beat location and price. Would stay again.

We stayed three nights at Montego Bay this week and I cannot say enough great things about the experience! We stayed in one of the renovated ocean view rooms and it was absolutely perfect. The view was amazing and the room was just right for my family of four. It was also very clean and the housekeepers did a great job daily. The indoor water park was very fun, we went every day and my husband and I went down the slides many, many times! The location is the best in Wildwood, you literally never need to get in your car to go anywhere because you can just walk directly onto the boardwalk from the lobby. The beach is also only steps away. For us, staying here was worth every penny and it’s already been decided we will be back next year!

Absolutely wonderful service. All staff members we encountered were so nice. From front desk to pool area, tiki bar, and maintenance. Nice pools inside and out. Great views especially for fireworks as we were on 6th floor. Big rooms with full refrigerators. No paper towels or kitchen towels so bring your own. And carpets need updates. But very nice overall.

Just spent a week in a superior ocean view suite and everything was great! The room was perfect with two bedrooms and a large living room and kitchen area. The whole resort was clean from the indoor water park to the outdoor pool. Employees were exceptional and always willing to provide anything we needed. Thank you Montego Bay Resort!!
